My Story
In the depths of my most significant challenges, when the 2008 economic crash brought my business to its knees, I was lost in self-doubt. Questions plagued me: Was I capable enough? Smart enough? How could I have failed my customers and family? Amidst these turbulent times, as I grappled with feelings of inadequacy and the stinging perception of failure as a sentence instead of a great lesson, the concept of Democracy Social DS began to take shape. Innovating empowering technology was more than just about social interaction; it was a vision of empowerment for people based on a stronghold for democratic principles.
The journey to this vision was not immediate. It began in 2014 with GearFlo, an idea for an electronic mobile device aimed at empowering individuals. This concept would dominate the next decade of my life, an ongoing endeavor. As I immersed myself in this project, my genuine desire became apparent: to be an agent of change, balancing power scales by empowering people through technology. In doing so, I was championing the underdog.
A few years back, I realized that my most profound commitment was to democracy. The values of honesty, justice, integrity, and American opportunity that I had always taken for granted were now threatened by those who disregarded the foundational principles of humanity. Watching the global rise in threats to democratic values, intensified by the Trump MAGA movement, I felt an undeniable call to action. With democracy at stake and the pivotal 2024 U.S. elections approaching, the urgency to act became paramount. On June 6, 2023, I took a decisive first step, securing domains and dedicating every moment after that to the creation of Democracy Social - my most significant endeavor.
My Story
Devoting day and night, I laid the groundwork for a platform like no other. By July 31, 2023,Democracy Social was officially a unique Californian nonprofit designed to scale constructive social, build democratization tools, empower great ideas, and restore more balance, transparency, fairness, and the people's voice amidst our social discourse. In an era marked by the rise of extreme factions bought by the highest bidder and intent on eroding our fundamental values, Democracy Social stands as a beacon of hope. It embodies the strength of our collective democracy-will in the digital age and our commitment to a more humane-tech-democracy.
I extend an open invitation to you: join me in this endeavor. Yes, I am imperfect, and we're building DS from scratch. But in the current state of our democracy, my deep passion for people, democratic values, and our shared ideals to do more than save democracy drives me to offer whatever support I can.
